Black Sand Pizzeria and Bistro is nestled on the popular surf beach in Oakura, Taranaki, New Zealand. We proudly serve Authenticated Neapolitan Pizza combined with a fresh, seasonal and modern bistro menu in a welcoming neighbourhood vibe, ON THE BEACH!

Flour, water, salt, yeast, time and tradition are our passion. Teamed with carefully-matched ingredients and cooked in a wood-fired oven at a high temperature, the pizza comes out soft, light and fluffy. Best eaten hot and folded, for an optimal eating experience. The wine list draws inspiration from mostly organic and natural wines with a focus on NZ and AUS small producers. As for beers – all local!

Bookings are necessary, especially during summer!!
We are a mighty, yet, small restaurant, therefore any tables of 11 or more please see our functions section and email blacksandpizza@gmail.com for information regarding larger tables.

Whilst we try to accommodate any requests with your booking, please note we can not guarantee any requests ie window table

Currently in replace of gluten free pizza bases we do have a selection of gluten free items on our Bistro menu.

Black Sand has a warm and versatile space for your next gathering or function. Our dining area can accommodate small weddings, work functions, birthdays or any special occasion.
